Yoshihide Suga Japan's new head of government

The 71 year old Yoshihide Suga has succeeded Shinzo Abe as Japanese Prime Minister and wants to lead his country out of the crisis with mostly familiar faces. Japan's oldest prime minister in around 30 years was elected by parliament on Wednesday, as expected with a majority of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its junior partner Komeito.

Of the 20 members of his cabinet, 15 had previously served under Abe, who resigned for health reasons after a record tenure of almost eight years. Another new addition to the cabinet is the former Vice Foreign Minister Nobuo Kishi (61), who will take over the defense department. He is Abe's younger brother. The now 79-year-old Finance Minister Taro Aso remains in office, as does Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi (64), Olympic Minister Seiko Hashimoto and Justice Minister Yoko Kamikawa. You are the only two women in Suga's cabinet.
