Venezuela calls for the immediate repeal of sanctions

The representative to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, reaffirmed, during the General Debate of the Second Committee of the General Assembly, the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“Venezuela, even in the midst of the difficulties resulting from the worst pandemic in a hundred years, ratifies its firm commitment to the a for Sustainable Development, particularly with the objective of achieving the eradication of poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including the extreme poverty, this being the main objective of our national development plans. And it is that, for our country, leaving no one behind, more than a rhetorical phrase, is a State policy, as shown by the many social programs underway, "he said.

The Venezuelan delegation presented three proposals for the members of the Organization to move forward, in the midst of the pandemic, towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.

They are: The complete and immediate repeal of all unilateral coercive measures, in violation of the United Nations Charter and the norms of international law, which have been imposed against more than a third of humanity, including the country; the expansion of financing from multilateral and regional banking entities, under favorable conditions, without discrimination or politicization, to provide greater liquidity to the financial systems of developing countries; the agreement on a moratorium on debt service payments for all developing countries, without distinction, as well as the increase in official development assistance and the strengthening of North-South and South-South cooperation.

Moncada ratified the country's commitment to actively participate in the construction of a model and a multilateral system centered on the human being, to strengthen strategies in favor of the eradication of poverty and social exclusion, based on solidarity.
