US politicians have called on the United States to help Ukraine join NATO

The United States must work with Ukraine to achieve Ukraine's integration into NATO and to achieve Kyiv's ultimate goal of membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. This is stated in the Ukrainian-American appeal to the governments of the two states, which was initiated by the Kyiv Security Forum, European Truth reports .

The appeal was co-authored by former ambassadors and authoritative institutions such as the Atlantic Council, the Lviv Security Forum and the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center.

The document was signed by members of the US Congress representatives of Democrats and Republicans, as well as Ukrainian parliamentarians, whose factions together constitute the constitutional majority in the Verkhovna Rada.

The United States and Ukraine must work together to advance Ukraine's integration into NATO and achieve Kyiv's ultimate goal of NATO membership. The United States must adhere to NATO's open door policy and provide Kyiv with advice on how best to prepare for NATO leaders' membership, in Bucharest in 2008 told in the address.

The appeal said, Ukraine, for its part, must commit to carrying out the necessary reforms and taking practical steps that will bring its military and other security and defense structures in line with NATO standards and norms.

The petitioners said, Ukraine's membership in NATO will strengthen the North Atlantic Alliance, promote the historic unification of Europe and create the preconditions for the transformation of relations with Russia.
