US deploys its space forces in Qatar instead of space

Elements of the American space force arrived at Al Udeid base in the first operation carried out by these forces after its establishment. 20 soldiers from this force were sworn in at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar in their first deployment operation outside American territory. This comes amid a recruitment campaign within the space force and criticism that it is a showcase project for President Donald Trump.

This group will make history, said Colonel Todd Benson, Director of Space Forces at the US Air Force Central Command, during a ceremony for the Air Force’s members to switch the military branches in which they work on September 1.

According to a press release issued by the Space Force, they are the first group of the American Space Force to be deployed to support combat operations.

Historians say that US forces are not new to the Middle East, but that they were in fact the place where they fought the first ever space war. In 1991, the US forces used a satellite positioning system for the first time during operations against Saddam Hussein's forces that occupied Kuwait. The new force, supervised by the US Air Force said, it had no intention of deploying forces in direct Earth orbit.

This force is currently protecting US assets such as hundreds of communications and surveillance satellites. And US Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett said the space force would include about 16,000 air force and civilian personnel. The Trump administration committed $ 40 million to fund the force in its first year.

The Space Force has been mocked occasionally since President Trump established it as the first US military branch since adding the Air Force in 1947.
