United States: A young woman from the Capitol who sought to sell Pelosi's computer to Russia
A criminal complaint filed with the FBI stated that a young woman, who was found to have participated in the storming of the US Capitol had stolen a laptop belonging to Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and was hoping to sell it to a Russian spy agency.
The aim of the lawsuit, which was filed late Sunday evening before a criminal court in Washington, DC, is to arrest Riley John Williams of Pennsylvania for reasons including violent entry and anarchic behavior on the Capitol. Its whereabouts are still unknown.
Relying on numerous photos and videos of the chaotic break-in on January 6, an FBI agent said, Williams was seen near the office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
A witness, identified in the court document as W1 and claiming to be Riley John Williams'm former partner, reported that his partner planned to send the laptop to a friend in Russia to sell it to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service.
The affidavit stated that this sale failed for unknown reasons, and the computer is still in Williams possession or disposed of. It was unclear if a Pelosi mobile device was actually stolen. The FBI confirmed that it was continuing to investigate.
Several videos show the woman, believed to be Williams, asking others who stormed the building to go to the upper floor.
The complaint stated that Williamsmother in Harrisburg had identified her daughter in several photos of the break-in that were shown to her. She said her daughter suddenly became interested in the policies of President Donald Trump.
Williams traveled to Washington with her father, but they broke up during the chaos that day, and after Williams returned home, she returned a bag and told her mother that she would leave for two weeks.
The complaint said, It appears that Williams has fled.
Dozens of people who stormed the Capitol were identified and arrested, mostly with the help of photos and videos posted on social media.
The Capitol is still under strict lockdown on the eve of Joe Biden's inauguration as president, Wednesday.
