Ukraine may ban the sale of chicken through the bureaucracy
According to the European Business Association, the order of the Ministry of Health in Ukraine remains inconsistent, which allows the use of therapeutic additives in poultry farming. This is stated in the message of the European Business Association.
According to the report, on February 17, the Ministry of Health issued an order allowing the use of medicated feed additives to prevent disease in poultry farming. The document was agreed with the Ministry of Economy and the State Food and Consumer Service. At the same time, the state regulatory service intends to revoke this order.
The statement said, Non-compliance with this normative act will actually lead to a ban on the sale of poultry meat both in Ukraine and abroad. After all, food products that are prohibited for consumption within the country are also prohibited for export. These feed additives are not harmful to humans and are used, including in European countries, but they are very important for raising poultry and are used throughout the cycle.
The European Business Association has already sent a letter to the Ministry of Health and the State Regulatory Service requesting a ban on the use of feed additives for poultry fattening in Ukraine. The association emphasizes that the current situation may also lead to the loss of poultry and rising prices for this product, which is social.
In 2020, Ukraine updated the absolute record for chicken exports - 431 thousand tons, while revenue from sales decreased to 555 million dollars (against 579 million dollars in 2019).
