UIA disaster: Ukraine has joined a joint statement by Britain, Canada and Sweden
During the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Ukraine joined a joint statement by the United Kingdom, Canada and Sweden on Iran's downing of PS752.
More than a year has passed since the tragic crash of PS752 on Ukraine International Airlines, killing two Iranian surface to air missiles, killing 176 people, many of them flying home on vacation or returning to school. we continue to mourn this tragic loss.
In February, Special Rapporteurs Agnes Kallamar and Jawaid Rehman issued a letter to the Iranian government setting out a number of very serious allegations. The main concern is that the right to life of 176 passengers and crew members has been violated. We assume that Iran did not respond to this letter.
Iran's violation of its human rights obligations is extremely worrying. This is complicated by reports of completely unacceptable harassment and threats to family members of some victims.
Foreign Ministry calls on Iran:
Respond promptly to the letter of the UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur, Agnes Kallamar;
Immediately end harassment and intimidation of victims' families, both in Iran and abroad;
Ensure a full and transparent investigation of criminal cases and impartial proceedings as part of its duty to ensure justice for the victims of this tragedy;
Provide a comprehensive and transparent account of the events that led to this tragedy.
On February 10, it became known about an audio recording in which the Iranian Foreign Minister was probably discussing the possibility that the destruction of the PS752 flight was a deliberate act.
In February, the head of the judiciary of the Iranian armed forces, Shokroll Bahrami, said that the military prosecutor's office had completed a major investigation into the crash of a Ukrainian UIA plane.
On January 8, 2020, the plane of the regular flight PS 752 Tehran - Kyiv of Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) crashed in Iran . The plane had 167 passengers and 9 crew members, all 176 people were killed.
On January 11, 2020, Iran admitted that it had shot down a UIA passenger plane . This was allegedly caused by a human factor: the military mistakenly mistaken the airliner for an enemy target after a US drone strike that killed a high-ranking Iranian military general in Iraq.
In July 2020, Iran stated that the Boeing crash of Ukraine International Airlines was caused by improper adjustment of the air defense system .
Iran has delayed providing information and deciding on compensation for the families of the victims. Iran handed over the black boxes of the UIA plane to France only in the summer. Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin said that the deciphered data confirmed that there was " illegal interference with the plane.

On December 30, it became known that Iran will allocate $ 150,000 to the families of each of the victims of the crash of flight PS752 (UIA aircraft). Canada is not satisfied with such an offer to Iran.
On December 31, 2020, Iran on the fifth attempt submitted to Ukraine a draft technical report on the causes of the UIA plane crash in Tehran.
