UAE and Uzbekistan: Launching a new phase in the march of strategic partnership


 

The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Uzbekistan have announced the launch of a new phase in the process of strategic partnership in government modernization, to include the fields of economy, industry and business incubators. This step comes after more than a year of partnership that has witnessed an evolution in relations between the two friendly countries since the signing of the strategic partnership agreement in government modernization in April 2019, with the aim of promoting the exchange of knowledge, experiences and successful experiences, developing human capabilities, adopting best practices in government work, and launching initiatives. And joint projects to benefit from the experience of the UAE government.


The announcement came during a bilateral meeting remotely held by His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs with His Excellency Sardar Omarzagov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during which they discussed developments in the strategic partnership and ways to enhance government readiness to anticipate future challenges. And the next steps in the march of cooperation.


The meeting was attended by Ohoud Bint Khalfan Al-Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, Dr. Yasser Al-Naqbi, Assistant Director-General for Government Leadership and Capabilities in the Prime Minister's Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, and a number of officials in the government of Uzbekistan.

His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi stressed that expanding the strategic partnership in government modernization between the UAE and the friendly Republic of Uzbekistan to include new areas in the economy, industry and tourism, through the UAE’s development of 147 government modernization initiatives in Uzbekistan, confirms the success of the fruitful bilateral cooperation model and the depth of relations between the two countries And their leadership, which was reflected in many achievements during more than a year of effective partnership, as the two countries continue to establish a global model in government cooperation that will be beneficial to the two friendly peoples.

Mohammed Al Gergawi said that the UAE is led by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State is committed to a purposeful approach to building a better future for societies and promoting the global development process, by establishing a global model for cooperation, partnership and exchange of experiences with all countries of the world.


The Minister of Cabinet Affairs praised the efforts of the joint work teams from the UAE and the Republic of Uzbekistan, which work passionately and with team spirit to implement the axes of the strategic partnership, despite the circumstances of the new Covid-19 as the activities and training activities did not stop after those in charge of them devised methods Creative that guarantees its continuation with efficiency.


For his part, His Excellency Sardar Omarzakouf stressed that the UAE has demonstrated the success of its government model in preparing for various future challenges, developing innovative solutions and identifying new opportunities through which it can develop its work, expand its economic fields and upgrade its governmental capabilities, indicating that the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been The partnership is based on building its future capabilities and launching comprehensive strategies that enhance its readiness.

He praised the UAE government's keenness to share its experiences in government modernization, which made it one of the most prepared countries for the future, praising the qualitative achievements made by the two governments within the framework of the partnership, and the joint teams continuing to work in light of the global health crisis, to ensure the continuity of government work and enhance its readiness for changes, and to consolidate joint action To accomplish more initiatives.


The two sides touched on the achievements of the partnership between the two countries over a whole year, which included training more than 2,094 employees in the government of Uzbekistan through organizing 59 training workshops for 34,000 training hours, with the participation of 60 trainers, and holding more than 110 meetings between work teams in the two countries.


His Excellency Muhammad Al Gergawi and His Excellency Sardar Omarzakov reviewed the most prominent joint activities scheduled to be held during the coming period, which includes celebrating the winners of the government applications initiative from Uzbek university students, which aims to qualify more than 300,000 students in 100 universities, to design smart applications for services, and the events also include celebration Winners of the One Million Uzbek Coders initiative, which provides training programs and international certificates in the fields of programming, in addition to organizing the Women Leaders Forum in Uzbekistan.

The expanded strategic partnership between the UAE and Uzbekistan includes 25 axes, including 147 initiatives in the fields of government modernization, as three initiatives for cooperation in the economic field have been added, and initiatives in the field of industry and business incubators.


The expansion of cooperation fields to include the economic and industrial sectors aims to increase the proportion of food exports of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to the UAE, attract Emirati investments that include specialized companies in various industries to open branches and factories for them in Uzbekistan, develop the Islamic economy sector in Uzbekistan and benefit from the experience of the UAE. In this rapidly developing sector, work is to increase the rates of tourism flow between the two countries.


The initiatives related to the economic, industrial and tourism fields on the Emirati side are being implemented by the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, national industrial companies, the Dubai Center for the Development of Islamic Economy and local tourism destinations in the country.

It is worth noting that the UAE government signed a strategic partnership agreement in government modernization with the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in April 2019, with the aim of enhancing the exchange of experiences and successful experiences, and adopting best practices in government work, including launching joint initiatives and projects to benefit from the UAE's experience in the areas of government accelerators, quality and services And smart and strategic applications, national plans, performance, government innovation, leadership and capacity building programs, programming, the future of education and economics, global competitiveness and ease of doing business, among others.
