These are the departments that contributed the most to GDP in 2019
The director of Dane, Juan Daniel Oviedo, released this Friday the 2019 Gross Domestic Product report by departments, which gives an account of how the economy and national accounts behaved by region . The report highlights that in 6 of the 32 departments of the country two thirds of the economic growth was concentrated last year.
Bogotá (0.9%), Antioquia (0.5%), Valle (0.3%), Santander (0.2%), Meta (0.2%), Cundinamarca (0.2%) and Atlántico ( 0.2%) added 2.5% of GDP, which was 3.3% in 2019 as preliminary data, and which represents the highest figure in the last 5 years. On the other hand, according to the Dane, the first three economies of the country (Bogotá, Antioquia and Valle del Cauca) concentrated half of the country's economy, meanwhile, the report indicates that the national economy was valued at 1,062 billion pesos in 2019 and Bogotá DC with 271 billion represented a quarter of the country's income.
After Bogotá, the second departments with the highest GDP was Antioquia with 153,518 billion pesos. Meanwhile, the departments with the lowest GDP are Vaupés and Guainía with 306 and 410 billion pesos, respectively. Finally, the departments of La Guajira (-0.8%) and Putumayo (-3.2%) register negative growth in their Gross Domestic Product, compared to the national average.
