The number of centenarians in Japan rose above 80,000 for the first time

Women make up 88.2 percent of the total number of centuries. The number of women aged 100 and over increased by 8165 to 70 975 and the number of men by 1011 to 9475. In 1963, when the statistics of the centuries began to be monitored, there were 153 people aged 100 and over in the country. In 1981, their number increased to over 1,000 and in 1998 it exceeded 10,000. Japan has a population of about 126.5 million. The average life expectancy for Japanese women was 87.45 years last year, and for men 81.41 years. In both cases, it was a record high. The oldest woman in Japan and also the oldest living person in the world is 117-year-old Kane Tanaka from Fukuoka. The oldest man in Japan is 110 years old, he is Mikizo Ueda from Nara Prefecture. At the end of this year's first quarter, 569 people aged and older lived in the Czech Republic 493 women and 76 men. The Czechia has about 10.7 million inhabitants.
