The Cabinet explains the fact that electricity is sold to European countries at a subsidized price
The Media Center of the Council of Ministers said that it contacted the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, to find out the truth about what was circulated about the ministry's intention to sell and export electricity to European countries at a subsidized price lower than the local price. The center added that the ministry denied these reports, stressing that there is no truth to Egypt exporting electricity to European countries at a subsidized price lower than the local price, explaining that there is no electrical connection between Egypt and any European country so far, indicating that Egypt's export of electricity abroad comes as a result of having a reserve.
A huge amount of energy of all kinds be it gas, electricity or renewable energy which contributes to increasing national income and making Egypt an attractive market for investment in the energy field. In a related context, studies are currently underway for the electrical interconnection project between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, which will be conducted through submarine cables of 500 kilovolts with a DC system and the line’s capacity will exceed 2000 megawatts and the project is one of the projects that help connect Egypt with the European electrical network And it turns Egypt into an energy center and a carrier of electricity on the European continent.
The Center appealed to various media outlets and social media users to investigate accuracy and objectivity in publishing news and to communicate with the concerned authorities to make sure before publishing information that is not based on any facts and that leads to confusion among public opinion.
