Syria, Israeli raids on the Golan: three soldiers and seven militiamen killed
The Israeli retaliation took place last night after an attempted attack with improvised bombs against an army patrol on the Golan. The bombs were discovered yesterday and the Armed Forces had immediately warned that they would not tolerate violations of sovereignty. Star of David fighter bombers hit Syrian anti-aircraft positions and pro-Iranian militia bases in the Golan Heights and on the southern outskirts of Damascus. The Syrian government has admitted the loss of three soldiers. The spokesman for the Israeli Armed Forces, Colonel Johnathan Conricus, specified that eight targets were shot. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the victims are ten, including seven Iranian, Iraqi and perhaps even Lebanese militiamen. Since 2013, Israel has been conducting raids against installations and warehouses used by the Pasdaran and allied Arab militiamen. Former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman had spoken of hundreds of attacks, while the new owner, co-premier Benny Gantz has so far kept a lower profile but has continued to exert constant pressure on Iran's allied forces.
