Switzerland: Swiss flight to Bilbao lands without a single piece of luggage

In a recent incident, a Swiss flight to Bilbao landed without a single piece of passenger luggage on board. This is an isolated case, according to figures from ground handler Swissport, but it highlights the challenges that airports and airlines are facing as travel demand surges.


Swissport: Only 15 flights out of 62,000 took off without luggage in the current year


In the current year, around 62,000 flights had taken off by September 10th. “Of these, 15 planes took off without luggage, which corresponds to a percentage of 0.024 percent,” says spokeswoman Nathalie Berchtold to CH Media. In more than 99.9 percent of cases, the suitcases are transported. Swissport is responsible for all Swiss flights in Zurich.
