Sheinbaum: A president would be very good for Mexico
Claudia Sheinbaum, head of government, argues that having more women as leaders in the country is positive for the country, both as governors and as an eventual president.
The president during the last day of the Expansión Summit 2020. said, we are only two women governing the 31 states and Mexico City, the fact that there is parity is very good. I hope there will be more governors soon and always a president would be very good.
Before the elections in 15 states of the country, Sheinbaum confesses that he hopes to see more elected governors, however he refuses to advance if in 2024 she will seek the presidency.
She said, we will see it in due course but I think you have to be focused on governing the city, if you start to do futurism you start to think about something else and do not think about what you were chosen for.
Next 2021 in the capital, the 16 mayors as well as the 66 deputies that will make up the second legislature of the Congress of Mexico City will be elected.
She said, we are not going to allow it under any circumstances, you cannot use public resources and the Comptroller's Office is going to be on that, we will be constantly reviewing and there cannot be what we experienced in the campaign that was violence to the opposition, it will never to have that again in the city.
Regarding her management, she says she is excited about the progress in the 96 points in which she promised to comply in the campaign, even after this 2020 the capital like the rest of the country has been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the very difficult situation the city is experiencing, I am excited because we are transforming the city, we have done many things and we continue to do them.
The president said, I am excited to deliver a more egalitarian city, with more rights, with more public space, where people feel happier and have a different relationship with their government. I think that we have made progress, we can always do more. It is natural that there may be polarization in political positions but we must always maintain joint work, respect and coordination in the face of issues like this of the pandemic of the economic crisis, but finally we are a country and we have to move forward.
Faced with the division in the National Conference of Governors (Conago) due to the departure of 10 governors from the PRD, PRI, PAN and independents, Sheinbaum reiterated that he sees it as a movement before the next elections.
The capitalist president pointed out that the conflict with the governors of states governed by the opposition makes the federalist state model lose meaning and questioned whether these governors want Mexico to increase its debt.
“If having a federal state is of any use, it is that it allows us to distribute resources and Chiapas, Oaxaca, which are the poorest states in our country, require more resources to improve people's living conditions.
Sheinbaum said, there are no more resources or do you want the country to get more debt? I don't want the country to go into debt more.
The head of government will present the report of her second year of government at the head of Mexico City on September 17 before the capital's Congress.
