Russian arrest warrant for Lukashenko's political opponent
Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, a former candidate for the presidency of Belarus , as opposed to the life leader of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, is now considered wanted in Russia.
An arrest warrant has been issued against Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, which also covers Russian territory. This is deduced from the database of the Russian Ministry of Interior, which states: "Reason for search: wanted under an article of the Penal Code", broadcasts the Russian news agency TASS.
According to a source in the Russian police, cited by TASS, an arrest warrant has been issued for Svetlana Tikhanovskaya in Belarus, but this warrant also applies to Russia, as there is a corresponding intergovernmental agreement on this issue.
The same source stated that no international arrest warrant has been issued against Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
An earlier arrest warrant has been issued in Russia for former Belarusian presidential candidate and former director of the High-Tech Technology Park Valery Tsepkalo.
