Record of early suffrage is set in 2020 United States elections
More than 22 million Americans have already cast their vote in the 2020 elections, marking a record in an outlier election marked by a pandemic and the enthusiasm of the Democrats. The 22.2 million ballots that had been delivered as of Friday night represent 16% of all votes cast in the 2016 presidential election . Voters still have two weeks to vote. However, given the trend that has been set, electoral experts predict that there could be more than 150 million votes, which would exceed the turnout rate in any other presidential election since 1908.
McDonald's analysis shows that as of today, about 10 times more people have voted compared to the 2016 elections. According to a count by the AP agency, the majority of voters have been on the Democratic side (Joe Biden) and outnumber the Republicans (Donald Trump) by about 2 to 1 .
