President of the Education Commission ensures that teachers without title will not be reinstated

Legislator Luis Reymundo Dioses affirmed that the law approved in Congress on the reintegration of temporary teachers who were dismissed in 2014 will not affect the meritocracy.

The congressman from Somos Peru and president of the Congressional Education Commission, Luis Reymundo Dioses , affirmed that teachers who do not have a professional degree or those who have not met the requirements, will not be reinstated.

This after the decision to approve a bill that proposes the reintegration of thousands of temporary teachers was criticized from different fronts who did not have a title and were dismissed in 2014, after failing an evaluation or not taking it.

The congressman to the Andean Agency said, what the law does is to compensate a violated right to teachers who were dismissed despite having their title in 2014. Teachers should have had a performance evaluation and not what was decided at that time.

In this sense, Reymundo Dioses indicated that the approval of the initiative is a fair act since it recognizes the labor rights of the unemployed, in addition, it does not interfere with the meritocracy.

He said, It does not seek to eliminate meritocracy or affect educational quality. At the time that the Public Teaching Career was implemented in 2014, this sector (with interim appointment) did not find an answer, today it has them.

On the other hand, the president of the Congressional Education Commission maintained thatthe number of teachers who would be reinstated to their functions is less than 14 thousand.

Prime Minister Walter Martos said that the approval of said bill will affect the principles of meritocracy and a good education could not be guaranteed in educational centers. We would be giving a great setback in what is the Law of the Magisterial Career , which is very important to continue promoting because what is sought is the quality of teaching and that tremendously affects the education of our children.

In the same way, Carlos Silva, head of the Minedu's Technical Regulatory Directorate for Teachers , considered that the approval of this bill goes against the meritocracy that has been promoted to optimize the level of education .
