President Jokowi to Launch Largest Sharia Bank in Indonesia
President Joko Jokowi Widodo on Monday’s virtual press conference from the State Palace said he aimed at officially operating Bank Syariah Indonesia in February 2021 to leverage the nation's sharia economy and finance.
The President said there were still much space to optimize sharia economy and finance in Indonesia.
The President during the press conference on January 25 said, we strengthen the sharia financial industry by building one of the largest sharia banks in Indonesia. We have set a target and inshallah in February we will complete it.
Earlier, the head of the PMO Merger Bank Syariah, Hery Gunardi, said during an event on January 19 the operations of Bank Syariah Indonesia was waiting for an official permit from the Financial Services Agency (OJK).
The three state-owned banks that have agreed to merge and become Bank Syariah Indonesia are Bank BRIsyariah, Bank Syariah Mandiri, and Bank BNI Syariah.
