Memoir on Melania, the Department of Justice sues the former friend
In the US, the Department of Justice has sued Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former friend and former consultant of the first lady Melania Trump, claiming that she violated a confidentiality agreement by publishing the book that tells many anecdotes and private aspects of her relationship with the former Slovenian model.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff was close to the First Lady until 2018 , when she fell out of favor after revelations about the colossal costs incurred for Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony in January 2017. Her book, Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship With the First Lady is full of anecdotes and quotes that try to shed a little more light on the First Lady, a figure in many ways enigmatic and who sips her public outings.
The snapshot that comes out is that of a woman more aggressive than it shows , especially towards her daughter-in-law Ivanka. According to the ministry, Melania's former consultant had pledged not to reveal any information about the president's wife, collected in the months she spent at the White House: she worked for free, she was not a federal employee, but had signed an agreement that prohibited to publish, communicate or disclose such information to unauthorized persons or entities.
The lawyers also called for all profits from the book to be seized , arguing among other things that Ms. Winston Wolkoff should have presented her work to Melania Trump and White House attorneys before its publication.
