Lebanon: The American Ambassador calls for the detection of the killers of Luqman Salim

The US ambassador to Beirut, Dorothy Shea, discussed with Lebanese Minister of Justice Marie-Claude Negm the case of the assassination of the activist Luqman Salim . And it stressed that those involved in his killing should be revealed without any delay and that they should be held accountable.

In turn, the family of Luqman Slim affirmed that they rely on the judiciary to prove that Lebanon has not become a country outside the rule of law. It called for an effective and professional investigation that rises to an international level.

She said in a statement: It is important for the family of Luqman Salim to confirm their full cooperation with the Lebanese authorities, the judiciary and the police, since the first hours after Luqman's disappearance, and they are counting on the Lebanese judiciary and those in charge of the investigation to uncover the criminals who decided, planned, carried out and covered the assassination, and as soon as possible.

She said, It is possible, to preserve justice, to fulfill the truth, and to prove that Lebanon has not yet become a country outside the rule of law and where the law of the jungle does not prevail. It is important for the family of Luqman Salim to confirm their full cooperation with the Lebanese authorities, the judiciary and the police, since the first hours after Luqman's disappearance, and they are counting on the Lebanese judiciary and those in charge of the investigation to uncover the criminals who decided, planned, carried out and covered the assassination, and as soon as possible. She said, an international investigation means demanding an investigation that would raise its efficiency and professionalism to the level of international investigations, because the assassination of Luqman Selim constitutes a challenge to the sanctities of Lebanon, knowledge, thought, freedom of expression and audacity in attitudes. He carried it with pride and pride, and fought for the establishment of a state in which the citizen is proud to belong to it. All news that directly or indirectly suggests that the Luqman Salim family does not cooperate with the investigation conducted by the Lebanese security services is unfounded.

Rasha Salim, the sister of the Lebanese activist Luqman, who was found dead a few days ago in his car, said that Luqman would be buried in the garden of the house at the entrance, which she said would remain open for those who wish to pray over his body.

On Sunday, Rasha Salim said that the killers of Luqman claim that they are the ones with morals, surprising that the news of Luqman's death was mentioned before the weather bulletin on some TV channels.

Rasha Selim was also surprised that the German embassy sent two members of the Lebanese security, asking them to protect Luqman's German wife, considering that this means the Lebanese state’s tendency to turn Lebanon into a global issue.
