Lebanon: Siniora says Aoun committed more than one violation of the constitution

Fouad Siniora considered, the President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, since his election as President of the Republic, has committed more than one violation of the constitution, which is the supreme law, which regulates the life of the Lebanese and the work of the Lebanese constitutional institutions, noting that the essence of the role of the President of the Republic has been and continues to ensure respect for the constitution, its defense and protection The National Accord Document agreed upon by the Lebanese in Taif.

Siniora added in a statement: it is regrettable to resort to violating the provisions of the constitution, the National Accord Document and the Charter, as the covenant tried to create a pre-composition before the assignment. This is what he is trying today, with the presence of the caretaker government, of those who ignore the presence of ministers who are still spending their business and the Prime Minister on the issue of forming the delegation to indirectly negotiate with the delegation of the Israeli enemy under the auspices of the American delegation and the presence of the United Nations delegate, and thus violates the relevant constitutional articles. And specifically Articles 52, 54 and 60.

Article 52: The President of the Republic shall negotiate and conclude international treaties in agreement with the Prime Minister. And it does not become finalized except after the approval of the Council of Ministers.

Article 54: The decisions of the President of the Republic must be signed by the head of government and the minister or ministers concerned with the exception of the decree naming the prime minister and the decree accepting the government's resignation or considering it resigned.

Article 60: The president of the republic is not liable if he performs his job, except when he violates the constitution or in the event of high treason.

Siniora concluded from this angle, it was necessary for His Excellency President Aoun, before forming the delegation and before holding the conferences, to abide by the provisions of the constitution, which he must respect and preserve, and thus to consult with the prime minister according to the constitution and the principles in order to exclude the negative impact on the national rescue attempts that are imperative. Everyone should show solidarity to achieve it in these difficult and dangerous circumstances
