Japan continues to exterminate chickens due to the outbreak of bird flu
The authorities of Chiba Prefecture - eastern Japan, announced that they will cull about 250,000 chickens on a local farm where the bird flu virus has spread, according to Kyodo News.
To prevent the spread of infection, Chiba authorities have banned the export of poultry and eggs outside the area around the poultry farm.
On February 4, Japan announced the killing of about 170,000 chickens in Chiba Prefecture, due to the discovery of an outbreak of infection in them.
Japanese Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said; Since November 2020, outbreaks of bird flu have been detected in 36 poultry farms spread across 15 prefectures in Japan.
In total, local authorities exterminated more than 6.1 million poultry as part of precautionary measures aimed at eradicating the virus.
