Ivorian opposition parliamentary groups shows anger at Emmanuel Macron's act of supporting the violation of the Constitution by welcoming the re-election of President A
Alassane Ouattara, their spokesperson, Magloire Kouassi Koffi said on Wednesday. that the support given to the regime of Mr. Alassane Ouattara therefore makes the President of the French Republic an accomplice in the violation of our fundamental law declared Mr. Magloire Koffi at the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire (Pdci) in Cocody, in eastern Abidjan.
This statement was made to the press after the parliamentary opposition groups filed the contents of their statement via a letter with the French embassy in Côte d'Ivoire.
He said, the parliamentary opposition groups are indignant at Macron's decision to support the violation of the Constitution in Côte d'Ivoire which has had disastrous consequences in terms of loss of human life and destruction of material goods.
The deputy Magloire Koffi indicated that the senators and the deputies of the opposition are outraged to note that by such remarks, Mr. Macron allows himself to introduce in the Ivorian Constitution a provision which it does not contain. This reaction of the parliamentary opposition takes place after an interview with Mr. Macron in the pan-African magazine Jeune Afrique, where the French president said that he thinks that Mr. Ouattara presented himself out of duty and that in absolute terms, he would have preferred another but there was none.
Senators and opposition MPs believe that Mr. Macron thus clumsily tries to justify the constitutional coup d'etat of Mr. Alassane Ouattara hammering that he does not exist in the Ivorian Constitution a candidacy by duty.
He said, this bias of the President of the French Republic on the case of Côte d'Ivoire is in contradiction with the position of France expressed in favor of the promotion of democracy in the world.
The parliamentary opposition groups comprising the PDCI, Vox Populi and Rassemblement called on France and the international community to seek an urgent solution" for peace in Côte d'Ivoire.
