Indonesia found the first black box of a Sriwijaya Air plane that crashed

TTO, a spokesman for the Indonesian Navy, said on January 12 that it had obtained one of the black boxes of the Sriwijaya Air plane after the crash last weekend off the coast of Jakarta, Indonesia
Fajar spokesman Tri Rohadi told Reuters news agency that black boxes were being shipped to the port of Jakarta. The black box has a flight data recorder and a cockpit recorder. It is not clear which of these devices was found.
After the data from the black box was restored, the National Transportation Safety Committee of Indonesia (KNKT) said it hopes to be able to read the information in three days.
Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and other officials will hold a press conference on January 12 to inform about this.
A Boeing 737-500, carrying 62 people, crashed into the Java Sea on January 9, just four minutes after taking off from an airport in Jakarta.
On the morning of January 12, many bodies were found at the scene of the accident, as well as personal belongings, including wallet for identification.
This is the second biggest aviation accident in Indonesia since 189 passengers and crew died in 2018. At that time, Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX also crashed into Java Sea after take off from Jakarta.
The Sriwijaya Air plane is nearly 27 years old, much older than the 2018 737 MAX, according to Reuters.
