India: Complaint against Muraleedharan: PM's office not aware of seeking report


 

Minister of State for External Affairs V.S. The External Affairs Ministry said it was not aware that the Prime Minister's Office had sought a report on the complaint that Muraleedharan had violated protocol. Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastava said he was not aware of any communication in this regard.


He was responding to questions about protocol violations at a virtual press conference on Thursday. The Prime Minister's Office on Thursday sought an explanation from the Ministry of External Affairs over a complaint alleging that V Muraleedharan's participation in a PR conference in Abu Dhabi was a breach of protocol.


The Prime Minister's Office has asked the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs to look into the matter and submit a report immediately. Lok Tantric Janata Dal leader Salim Madavoor had lodged a complaint with the Prime Minister. In 2019, a young woman who was not even an official representative arrived at the venue where foreign ministers and top officials from 22 countries met. Subsequently, Smitha Menon was selected as one of the state general secretaries in the recently announced list of office bearers of the Mahila Morcha.
