Dominica and US governments sign agreement that allows access to two billion dollars
President Luis Abinader signed on Thursday a cooperation agreement with the United States that will allow access to two billion dollars, although initially only one billion will be invested. This agreement will finance energy and tourism issues with the aim of creating jobs and strengthening the local economy, according to authorities of the two countries this morning.The pact was signed by President Abinader and Adam Boehler, executive director of the United States Finance Corporation, and Ambassador Robin S. Bernstein, and also by Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez.
The event was attended by the Minister of Finance, Jochi Vicente; the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza and the businessman Frank Rainieri.
The authorities said that this agreement will work to identify priority projects and the financing necessary to develop them. Both countries agreed to work together to promote strong development results from these projects, including the economic empowerment of women, to "increase stability and prosperity in the country.
