Disney is reorganizing its work to enhance the role of the streaming service
The Disney group announced a reorganization of work in the field of media and entertainment to strengthen the role of its service for streaming, which has increased greatly during the Covid-19 pandemic. The media and entertainment unit of the giant group will be headed by Karim Daniel, who will manage the operations of streaming services and oversee the production of content, including film and television productions and sports programs.
Group CEO Bob Chapik, in an interview with CNBC, shortly after announcing the plan, what we want is to provide a level of objectivity and make that a decision that is truly in the interest of the company in general and its shareholders.
Chapik pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the taking of this step after it caused the closure of cinemas and led to a significant increase in subscriptions to the Disney plus service and other streaming services.
The move aims to better meet consumer requirements. Disney's streaming service had attracted 60.5 million subscribers by the end of June, offsetting the decline in other areas in which the group operates.
