CZK 5,000 has support for pensioners. Schiller rejected populism, Maláčová promised reform
The allowance would apply to old age pensioners as well as people with disabilities or survivors pensions. The Cabinet of YES and the CSSD expects to pay it out in December. But some opposition politicians talk about bribing voters. Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Jana Maláčová (ČSSD) and Minister of Finance Alena Schillerová (for YES) objected to such criticism.
Schiller said, this is certainly not a veil or any populist step by the government.
According to her, the contribution will immediately improve the living standards of pensioners. Maláčová identified the draft as an absolute priority.
Maláčová said, the bill is not a populist move. It is a compensation for inflation. However, it was heard from the ranks of the ODS and the Pirates that the rise in prices was reflected in the usual legal valorisation mechanism.
MP Jan Bauer (ODS) believes that the debate is about whether or not the government should distribute one off financial assistance to one group of people in order to win the election. According to the chairman of the club, Zbyněk Stanjura, the Civic Democrats will promote a better solution for helping seniors. Vlastimil Válka (TOP 09) was interested, among other things in how the government arrived at the proposed amount.
There are already some KDU-ČSL amendments in the parliamentary system. People's people would send a one-time 3,000 crowns to pensioners with above-average pensions and conversely 7,000 crowns to those who receive a survivor's pension in addition to an old-age or disability pension. They also want to add 500 crowns to the contribution for each child brought up.
According to Hana Aulická Jírovcová, the Communists will support the government's proposal. It bothers them. However that the contribution will not be reflected in future statutory valorisations of pensions. The draft was supported in the debate by the chairman of the SPD, Tomio Okamura, according to whom the ODS and TOP 09 are antisocial. Okamura fears that the proposal will not be approved in time. On the contrary, Maláčová believes that the legislative process will be completed so that pensioners will receive money in the last month of this year.
Regarding the contribution for seniors, the iROZHLAS.cz server asked last week in an extensive survey the opinion of individual legislators. While YES, the CSSD and the SPD and the Communists were with a few exceptions in favor, the right wing opposition revolted. The contribution could receive 2.89 million people. The state would spend a total of about 14.5 billion crowns on it from this year's budget.
According to the bill, pensioners would not have to apply for a social administration contribution. Those who will receive one of the pensions in November and will continue to be entitled to it should be entitled to an extraordinary improvement. They should receive a benefit of 5,000 crowns as a pension, ie to an account or a slip. The contribution would not be subject to possible execution and would not be included in income. It should not endanger the receipt of housing benefits or other social benefits.
