Based on the updating of the legal regulations in force, a more extensive and current proposal will be approved that will contemplate the welfare of all categories of animals, say domestic, working, productive, productive aquatic, exhibition, and those that are used in biomedical research.

In just weeks, every owner responsible for physical and mental abuse towards domestic animals, as well as bovines, equines and other work, as well as bovines, equines and others, will be under the judicial scrutiny, based on multiple analyzes that were carried out for the elaboration of this proposal. of the abandonment of affectionate animals.

Visitors to zoos and aquariums who mistreat the exposed species will not go unpunished those who illegally capture, hunt, fish and trade wildlife animals, especially those in danger of extinction; and those who illegally market pets and laboratory animals used as affectionate.

In Cuban society, a deeper feeling of love and care towards good health and quality of life of animals is lived every day, but with the implementation of this new animal welfare law we will be able to provide full harmony and, with it Weight of the law, those who attempt against the existence of all these species may be penalized.

According to Dr. María Gloria Vidal Rivalta, president of the National Committee for Animal Welfare, this new decree will include the 14 international standards issued by the World Organization for Animal Health.

For the elaboration of it, diverse positions and voices of veterinary professionals, the Cuban Association of Veterinary Medicine and the Directorate of Animal Health were articulated and discussed, through the National Committee of Animal Welfare of Cuba.
