Joe Biden, who won the presidential election and became the President of the United States, telephoned Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 11th. Joe Biden then expressed his concern over China's unjust economic practices, the introduction of the National Security Act in Hong Kong, the crackdown on democratic activists, and the human rights abuses unleashed on the Uyghur people in Xinjiang.
Joe Biden then spoke to reporters about the talks, implicitly warning China of the consequences of human rights abuses in China.
The annual conference of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the focus of US-China relations took place yesterday in the capital Beijing. Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the gathering.
We believe that the United States respects China's key interests, national dignity and rights to development. We urge the United States to stop defaming the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Constitution, supporting the false words and actions of the separatist forces in Taiwan, and undermining Chinese sovereignty and security in matters related to Hong Kong, Tibet and Xinjiang.
We hope that the US side will soon adjust its policies including the removal of unreasonable tariffs on Chinese goods, the lifting of unilateral sanctions on Chinese businesses research and educational institutions, and the abandonment of China's irrational repression.
