China: Fire at a Huawei plant under construction leaves three dead

Three people were killed in the fire at a research facility of the tech giant Huawei in Dongguan, southern China, according to local authorities. The government announced that it has opened an investigation into the fire that occurred in the building under construction on the Songshan Lake Industrial Park . The fire originated where Huawei is developing a research plant , according to the local government, which initially claimed that all the workers had been evacuated. However, in a later statement, they specified that during searches by firefighters (...) they found three people dead in the building.
These are employees of the company that manages the industrial park, according to the same source. Meanwhile, the fire was put out, according to a statement from the fire brigade. In this regard, Huawei explained in a statement on social networks that the building was a steel structure and that it was not yet in use.
Huawei's main headquarters are in the city of Shenzhen in southern China but it is developing an office complex in and around Dongguan.
