Prices for food and fuel in Ukraine are growing for objective reasons, but there are also collusion of retail chains, the prime minister said. The rise in prices in Ukraine, including at gas stations, occurs for objective reasons, but there are also monopoly collusion. This was stated by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, March 10. He noted that data on the prices of social goods, products are analyzed every day.
He said, already now I can say: growth is also due to objective factors, but we also record attempts at monopoly collusion and manipulation. Now we are in dialogue with key groups of manufacturers and retail chains, we are talking about increasing supply, which should balance prices. The same is true with fuel prices. Of course, there is an objective factor, because oil prices are now at almost a two-year maximum. At the same time, we are also talking with representatives of gas stations, and we are also working to eliminate illegal gas stations. On my instructions, the relevant regional commissions are already working. And I am sure that that in the near future we will see the result of their work.
The prime minister expects the price situation to stabilize by the end of March. As reported, in February inflation in Ukraine amounted to 1% . Since the beginning of the year, prices have increased by 2.3%, and in annual terms by 7.5%. Since the beginning of the year, prices for gasoline have increased by 12.1 %, diesel fuel by 12.6%, autogas by 24.2%.
