Brazil: Deadline for registration of candidacies ends this Saturday street campaign starts on Sunday

The deadline for parties to submit applications for registration of candidacies in the 2020 elections ends at 7 pm on Saturday (26). The next day, Sunday (27), the period of the electoral campaign in the streets begins. As of 8:24 pm on Friday (25), there were 443,000 candidates for mayor, vice mayor and councilor already registered, according to the database of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) .
The dates were defined by the TSE. See examples of what will be allowed to candidates from Sunday:
hold rallies;
caravans;
distribute graphic material;
advertise on the internet.
Election hours on television and radio start on October 9 and run through November 12.
Electoral calendar
September 26: deadline for registration of applications;
from September 26: deadline for the Electoral Court to convene parties and representation of radio and TV stations to prepare a media plan;
after September 26: start of electoral propaganda, also on the internet;
October 9: start of free electoral propaganda on radio and TV
October 27: deadline for political parties, coalitions and candidates to release a report detailing the transfers from the Party Fund and the Special Campaign Financing Fund (Electoral Fund), the cash and estimated cash resources received, as well as the expenses incurred;
November 15: first round of the election;
November 29: second round of the election;
until December 15: deadline for the submission of campaign accounts of candidates and political parties to the Electoral Justice, in relation to the first round and, where applicable, the second round of the elections;
until December 18: diplomation will be held for elected candidates across the country, except in cases where elections have not yet been held.
