Azerbaijan announces complete destruction of Karabakh territories
The head of the department stressed that the entire infrastructure was destroyed on the territory of Karabakh. According to Bayramov, illegal armed groups operated in the region, as a result of which cultural monuments and the environment were damaged.
The Minister announced the need for large scale restoration work on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and announced his intention to cooperate with international organizations in this area, it says in the message on the website of the department.
On the eve, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev demanded compensation from Armenia for the destruction in the region. He noted that claims for damages will be sent to international courts.
Earlier it became known that the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan opened a criminal case on the fact of archaeological excavations carried out by the Armenian side in Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions that came under the control of Baku, and the looting of monuments of material and cultural heritage. The department noted that its employees are already working in the field and are collecting data.
Open clashes resumed in the region on 27 September. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accused Yerevan of shelling settlements and positions of the Azerbaijani army in various directions. He added that the provocations of Armenia have been regular in recent years.
On the night of November 10, the leaders of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, as well as Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, adopted a joint statement on the conditions for ending the conflict in Karabakh. Under the terms of the agreement, the armies of Armenia and Azerbaijan will remain in their places, the process of exchange of prisoners of war and bodies of the dead will begin. Russian peacekeepers will be brought into Nagorno Karabakh, who will monitor the ceasefire. This led to protests in Yerevan. The opposition demanded the resignation of Pashinyan, as well as the revision of the concluded agreement
