Austria: Russmedia takes over 60 percent of the "Bergfex" tourism platform
The Vorarlberg Russmedia Group has taken over 60 percent of the shares in the "Bergfex" tourism platform based in Graz. Russmedia did not provide any information on the financial details of the deal. The founders of the platform - Markus Kümmel, Oliver Jusinger and Andras Koßmeier - remain operationally and as shareholders in the company founded in 1999.
"Bergfex" offers online and app solutions for planning your leisure time in the mountains, be it planning a tour, booking accommodation or information about the weather. "Bergfex 'can continue to accelerate its growth as an independent, founder-managed company in the Russmedia network," said Kümmel.
Eugen B. Russ, managing director of Russmedia Equity Partner, praised "Bergfex" as "a great Austrian company that is revolutionizing alpine sports with the help of technology". The apps from "Bergfex" have already been downloaded more than five million times.
