The former entrepreneur, Vienna Chamber of Commerce President and ÖVP politician Walter Nettig died at the age of 85. Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) and Chamber of Commerce President Walter Ruck announced this on Tuesday.
With Walter Nettig, a great personality in our city has passed away. He has been actively involved in shaping developments in our city for decades and was someone who lived through social partnership, said Ludwig. Nettig had worked for decades as a successful entrepreneur and assertive lobbyist - especially as President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, whose fortunes he directed from 1992 to 2005. In addition, he was until recently the special representative for foreign trade issues of the city of Vienna.
My heartfelt condolences go to his wife, his two daughters, his grandchildren and his whole family. We will carry on the memory of Walter Nettig appropriately and continue to cultivate the social partnership in Vienna in his spirit, said the mayor in a broadcast.
There is great sadness in our house and in the business community. Walter Nettig, in his function as long-time President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and as a successful entrepreneur, had a lasting impact on our city. He was a social partner of the best school, a major representative of the interests of Viennese companies, a connector Across party lines and a man of clear words with a handshake quality. Our condolences and condolences also go to his family, said Chamber President Ruck, highlighting Nettig's services.
