Argentina: Carnival weekend projected more than 2.5 million people will make tourism in the country
The Government projects that for this weekend of Carnival with the holidays of Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 February more than 2.5 million people will make tourism throughout the country. The data comes from the 1.8 million Argentines who processed their Summer certificate to be able to travel to which is added another number of people who take it out on the same day of travel and those who travel to the provinces that do not require this requirement for the entry.
The most chosen destinations so far, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Tourism, are the Partido de la Costa, in first place, followed by Mar del Plata, Villa Gesell, Bariloche and Villa Carlos Paz. Then other localities are located such as Pinamar, Monte Hermoso, Miramar, Córdoba and San Martín de los Andes.The provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Río Negro, Entre Ríos and Neuquén concentrate 75% of the tourist movement in the entire country.

Matías Lammens , Minister of Tourism and Sports said, with these latest data, according to official information, more than 10 million Argentines went on vacation since the start of the season, which started in December 2020. “Since the beginning of the season, almost 10 million Argentines have already been mobilized throughout the country. We are having a very good season in an extremely difficult context. We project to be at more than 70% of what was last season, which was a record. During this Carnival weekend we expect to exceed the numbers for the third weekend in January, which were the highest of the season. From the different destinations in the country we receive information on a very good level of reservations, in some cases with full occupancy.
According to private sector sources, reservations for this weekend in the province of Buenos Aires show an occupancy of 90% in Villa Gesell, 85% in the Partido de la Costa, 85% in Cariló; between 60% and 70% in Mar del Plata and 100% in Sierra de la Ventana.
Meanwhile, in the province of Córdoba, 70% was registered for Villa Carlos Paz, 70% for Mina Clavero, 90% for La Cumbre; 88% for La Falda and 100% in Villa General Belgrano. In the province of Río Negro, Bariloche adds an occupation of 60%, Las Grutas, 90% and El Bolsón, 86%.
In Neuquén, the main destinations are Junín de los Andes, with 85% and Villa La Angostura, with 65%. While in Mendoza, San Rafael and Potrerillos registered a level of reserves of 100%, followed by Uspallata, with 90%; Tunuyán, with 85%; and Malargüe, with 80%. Other destinations with high occupancy are Cafayate in Salta (90%); Purmamarca, in Jujuy (90%), Tafi Del Valle, in Tucumán (91%).
